Cadiz Water Project Buoyed By Election Results
As the final ballots are counted, it looks like the 2016 election turned out well for the Cadiz Water Project.
All of the Project’s Congressional supporters won reelection. (Vista Congressman Darryl Issa is currently leading in a close race that has not yet been called.) These victories are important as Congress may be considering measures in the near future that could undo the Bureau of Land Management’s controversial determination regarding the routing of the Project’s water conveyance pipeline.
President-Elect Donald Trump often stated during his campaign that he supports investments in infrastructure, fewer regulations and more water supplies for drought-prone California farms and cities. This certainly seems to bode well for the Cadiz Water Project and other California water infrastructure projects.
Cadiz, Inc. is monitoring the transition closely, and as Water4SoCal learns more, we will pass it along.
