Lake Arrowhead Wants Cadiz Water

The Lake Arrowhead Community Services District (LACSD), which serves about 20,000 customers around the San Gabriel Mountains lakeside community, has signed a letter of intent to reserve 3,000 acre-feet per year of water from the Cadiz Water Project for its use.

LACSD is the first San Bernardino County water agency to express an interest in securing water from the Mojave Desert aquifer that will supply the water project.

Cadiz CEO Scott Slater said of the newest letter of intent with Cadiz, “LACSD is limited in the amount of water it can divert from Lake Arrowhead for its customers, so Cadiz water would provide greater water supply reliability and relief to area residents during future droughts.”

The letter of intent would allow LACSD to reserve the water at a cost of $960/acre-foot, delivered to the Colorado River Aqueduct, contingent on Cadiz receiving all the necessary approvals and completing project construction.
