LAWSUIT DISMISSED THANKS TO NEW HYDROLOGY STUDY

The Laborers International Union of North America Local 783 (LIUNA) has become the third party to drop litigation against the Cadiz Water Project.

This dismissal is particularly interesting because it’s tied to a new independent peer review of the project’s hydrology that analyzed the validity of opposition claims regarding the project’s previous hydrology study. The study concluded that criticisms of the project’s earlier hydrology studies “are scientifically unsupportable.”

As a result, LIUNA has gone from project opponent to project proponent. Here’s their statement:

“Thanks to this independent report and the assurances from Cadiz regarding worker safety, we are now convinced that the Project can provide a safe, sustainable water supply while also creating much-needed local jobs and investment. We encourage local, state and federal government agencies and all interested parties to move quickly to remove any further impediments to Project construction and we express our unqualified support.”

Cadiz has posted a lengthier release here.
