OC Register: Cadiz Project to Begin Next Year
A report last weekend on the Cadiz Water Project in the Orange County Register stated that “construction for a project that will pump drinking water from a Mojave Desert aquifer and pipe it to south Orange County is slated to begin next year.”
That is the timeline for the Cadiz Water Project: Final check-offs received this year, construction start next year. It’s nice to actually see it in print – even if it took a few paragraphs for the report to mention the many water providers beyond South Orange County that have signed Letters of Intent or contracts to purchase the water.
As for appeals filed under the California Environmental Quality Act seeking to overturn the Cadiz Water Project’s approval, the Register reported this, from a Cadiz spokesperson:
All cases were resoundingly denied in superior court and we stand by that record and we think everything will be upheld by the court of appeals.
