Trump’s Infrastructure Priority List Includes Cadiz Water Project
A leaked list of President Trump’s priority infrastructure projects includes the Cadiz Water Project as the nation’s top-ranked new water supply project, and the top-ranked infrastructure project in California.
The list, which was published recently by two newspapers in the McClatchy newspaper chain, includes 50 projects nationwide that could be targeted by the president for federal support, following up on his campaign promise to update aging infrastructure.
The Cadiz project is a good candidate: It has most of its regulatory permits in hand, is being held up by a federal agency (the Bureau of Land Management, a part of the Department of Interior), will create and support nearly 6,000 jobs while creating a new water supply for 400,000, and does not require federal funding.
Cadiz CEO Scott Slater told California Water News Daily, “We are appreciative of the inclusion on any list of priority infrastructure projects. We are ready to bring reliable water to Southern California and put people to work.”
