Walters Asks BLM to Reconsider Cadiz Decision
Representative Mimi Walters, whose 45th District includes the service area of Santa Margarita Water District, which will receive at least 5,000 acre-feet of Cadiz water a year, issued a statement today calling on BLM to reconsider its determination regarding the water project’s proposed pipeline. She said:
“In light of California’s current drought crisis and ongoing water supply challenges, I am disappointed in BLM’s recent determination impacting the Cadiz Water Project. This project has the potential to help Californians, particularly within my district, overcome the serious impacts of our historic drought conditions and bring much-needed water and jobs into the state.”
Walters called on BLM to reconsider its determination in order to prevent a delay of the project, which she said would have “potentially devastating consequences.”
Walters serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure and Judiciary Committees.
